My Own Personal Paparazzi

It’s not easy for people like Jennifer Aniston, Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus and me.
It’s not easy to have every move watched, scrutinized and repeated. It’s not easy to be followed everywhere.
E-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e.
It’s not easy to have people hang on our every word. People who try to dress like us, talk like us and act like us.
If one wrong word comes out of our mouths, it takes months – sometimes years to make it right.
We have an important responsibility to live well…
Fame and Motherhood are essentially the same….
The only difference is a few million fans.
Question of the Day
Who is the most famous person you’ve met?

Kat,
I stood in line with Steven Tyler once. I needed socks for a nice dinner and stopped into a shop on the Champs-Élysées. All I could think to say was, “Um, dude, I like your music.”
Yours in Christ,
Chris Livingstone.

I met Princess Diana once on Easter at Windsor Castle when I was in High School. It was pretty cool, and she was amazingly friendly and chatty. All of my friends were quite jealous when they walked up and realized just who I was talking to … she, of course, had her bodyguard with her and I didn’t even have a camera on me!!

David Crowder at an ATF event last year.
Oh, and Tom Brokaw, but I didn’t really know who he was at the time…he just came through my line at Costco.
How about you?

Wow. You all have met some seriously famous people!
I guess the most famous person I’ve met would be Amy Grant. Well, Vince Gill was there too, so maybe him…
The coolest person I’ve met was an astronaut. I honestly can’t remember his name but he took a bunch of cds from KSBJ up into orbit with him and then throughout the year we gave them to the artists as they stopped by the station.
I was just sitting at my desk when he was taking a tour of the station. He looked like a regular guy (i.e. no space suit) and my coworker explained who he was.
I tried superhard not to freak out, because I just thought it was ridiculously cool that I was talking to someone who has been in space. S-P-A-C-E.
So cool…

Love the analogy between Motherhood and Celebrity. Fame? David Phelps and Erin O’Donnell did concerts at our church once and I sold CDs for them, so I got to chat with them while they autographed. Other than that, I ran into Paula Deen at Pier 1, but I live in Savannah, so that’s not uncommon for the locals.

Now, I should add the huge list of famous people my brother has met. He is an actor (no really, he gets paid, is a member of SAG out of necessity, honestly had to get a real screen name, and pays his bills by acting. He’s not a waiter that says he’s an actor.) and also does wait tables at a very nice Brazilian BBQ in LA. Most of the famous people he has met via acting, but many famous people come into the restaurant. Since he’s one of the two top waiters, he gets them in his section most times. He had a reunion of the Laugh In group and got hit on by one of the old ladies. Hehehe.

Great post. I’m not a mom, but totally understand how very powerful your influence is with your kids.

newt gingrich when he was speaker of the house.. i actually volunteered on his campaign, and worked with him personally some. he called me once to get my opinion on healthcare, and i sounded RIDICULOUS. i just kept trying to figure out how to record our convo on the answering machine without having it beep…
i’ve also met edwin mccain, travis tritt, dan quayle, rod stewart, heather locklear and richie sambora (i held their baby ava at a four seasons resort in hawaii), the guy who played (or plays) paul in young and restless, etc.

i’m kindof a star stalker…
