A Challenge To Everyone Reading This
Tomorrow at Inspired To Action, we’re inviting bloggers far and wide to participate in The 40 Day Fast.
The cool thing, is that you don’t have to fast!!! (Yay for food.)
What we’re challenging you to do is to break the inertia. (Inertia is the law that states that objects at rest – stay at rest and objects in motion- stay in motion.)
We all know that there is need in the world. We all want to help, but we’re comfy at rest and it’s hard to get going.
So the challenge for tomorrow is to do something S-I-M-P-L-E. Just get the ball rolling. Do something to help someone and then blog about it to challenge and inspire us.
We’ll have one of those Mr. Linky things so that you can post your blog link and we can all be encouraged by what everyone is doing.
SIMPLE
Here are a few ideas:
1. Call a nursing home to schedule ONE 30 minute visit. Remember, you’re not getting married. It’s okay to just visit once.
2. Buy MacDonald’s gift certificates to pass out to homeless people.
3. Donate some of your good stuff to Goodwill – not just your junk.
4. Buy a t-shirt from Blood:Water Mission or another organization.
5. Find $32 extra dollars in your monthly budget to sponsor a child. You don’t have to make the jump to sponsor – just take the first step and find the resources.
6. Write a letter to your sponsor child.
7. Pray for 15 minutes for a cause close to your heart.
Whatever you do on Friday, be sure to make it simple. Make it something that is easily doable. Something little.
Because it’s the little things that put the big things in motion.
And once we get in motion, we’re likely to stay in motion…
Are you in? What are you going to do?

Hey – a suggestion. Instead of a McD’s gift certificate for the homeless…hand them a clean pair of socks. I’m not trying to be weird…socks are like currency.

Kat, you called it a Mr. Linky thing again.
For some reason, this is really cracking me up.

That suggestion about writing to your sponsored child is just what I needed to read. I have two sponsored children, and though I often think of writing to them, I rarely do because I’m usually at a loss as to what I say. After reading your post though,I’m going to commit to writing them both a letter tomorrow. (Or I may even do it today.)
