We Just Saw THIS By Our House
Yes, that.
We were driving down a road just outside our neighborhood when Jimmy said, “Look an Elk!”
I responded with, “Look a ZEBRA!?”
The girls both screamed, “Where, where? Can we drive by again?”
My boy was more interested in the cracker he was eating.
We drove by two or three times until everyone saw it.
Isn’t it interesting that it’s not terribly exciting to see a zebra at the zoo, but when we see it in an unexpected place it is the highlight of our entire day?
I’m sure there’s a marketing message in there somewhere…

That’s crazy! And why was there a zebra roaming about? Do you live in Africa and I somehow missed that little detail?

That’s strange. A baby zebra was found several weeks ago along the interstate near Atlanta. They brought it to the Auburn vet school (where I’m a student), but I’ve yet to convince any of my vet school friends to sneak me in to see it…

Well, it WAS in someone’s fence and they DO have a couple acres, but still, we tend to see cows and horses here in Texas – not ZEBRAS and Elk.

WHEW. For a second there, I thought I was going to have to invite him to an all-expenses-paid trip out here to Oregon this Thanksgiving to go elk hunting. Then we could show him the difference between a zebra and an elk…

That is really funny! Texas is so weird. We have zebras near where we live too. And camels. I always think it’s so odd to see them when we’re driving down the interstate…

I saw several elk yesterday, but I’ve never seen a zebra outside the zoo. I wonder what it tastes like.
