Music Monday: Kat’s Soundtrack
(This is my entry for Music Monday. Click here to read the other entries or to submit your own.)
The music I’m going to write about today is not only the soundtrack to a famous movie/musical…
It is also, apparently, the soundtrack of my life.
For the past two years or so, The Sound of Music has been played in near constant rotation.
In the house. In the car. On the iPod. In my brain.
Over. And Over. And Over.
We introduced The Small Person to The Sound of Music on her 4th birthday. We let her stay up late and she snuggled in bed with Jimmy and I while we watched the 12,980,098 hour movie. (When we suggested the movie, we’d forgotten how L-O-N-G it is…)
She has been in love with the music ever since.
When I took her to the musical she was completely mesmerized for three hours. Every time the curtain closed she nearly cried because she thought it was over.
Her favorite song is the yodeling-goat-herder-puppet-thing song.
So, for your listening pleasure, I present The Lonely Goatheard:
Even though I’ve heard it a million times, I honestly still enjoy it…

Would now be the time to tell you that I’m scheduling a “Sound of Music Singalong” for the Hippodrome next Spring?

Are you serious? Because, really, when are you not serious…
No, seriously. Are you serious? Because The Small Person would be ALL over that.

Oh, I’m serious. I’m thinking March or April ‘09. What are the chances she’ll still be into the Sound of Music then? tee-hee…

I really love the sound of music too! I haven’t introduced my kids to it yet, but I bet they would love it!

I used to live in Mason City Iowa when I was little and the art museum’s claim to fame was those very puppets!
Though admittedly, seeing them in a darkened room is a bit creepy.
