Get A Goat

image Tuesday is the last day of The 40 Day Fast. What an awesome journey it has been.

I’ve been challenged and changed and I hope you have as well.

In addition to encouraging everyone to take part in the fast on Tuesday, I’d like to wrap this up with an opportunity for everyone to take a small step to break the inertia of complacency that hinders us all.

Get A Goat

It’s a project I’m calling Get A Goat. Catchy, huh?

image

Who?

You. Your blog readers. Your friends. Your family. Your Jr. High gym teacher. Anyone. If 75 people donate, we can provide a goat for a family in need.

What?

Five minutes and One dollar.

It will only take 5 minutes and $1 to help a family in need by purchasing a goat for them through World Vision.

A goat nourishes a family with fresh milk, cheese, and yogurt, and can offer a much-needed income boost by providing offspring and extra dairy products for sale at the market.

There isn’t a person reading this who can’t afford 5 minutes and $1 dollar.

Where?

Here. I’ll collect donations through Tuesday at 11:59pm.

Why?

Because we can.

How?

Just take 5 minutes, grab your wallet, credit or debit card or your paypal account and donate one dollar. My goal is to raise $75 to buy a goat for a family in need. I will cover any amount that isn’t donated. I’ll post my receipt of the purchase from World Vision.

When?

Now.

(You don’t need a Paypal account. If you want to use a credit or debit card, just click the “Continue” link on the bottom left of the page – above the credit card icons.)

Spread The Word

Post this image on your blog and spread the word. Perhaps we can help several families!

Here’s Your Chance

Many of us have been inspired by the posts during The 40 Day fast and here’s our chance to make a tangible difference.

It only takes 5 minutes and 1 dollar.

Won’t you join me?

Maybe it’s just me, but I tried to click through on the PayPal link and got “This session contains invalid data.” with a page title of “Page not found”. Thought you’d want to know.

Follow up comment – your readers need to have cookies enabled for PayPal to work. That was my problem – I block cookies for most sites, and only unblock them as needed.

I wonder if there is a way to make it possible to donate MORE than the one dollar?  When I sent my donation, the amount was already entered with no option to add additional funds.  Just a suggestion.  This is a wonderful thing, and I’m already thinking of the possibilities this could lead to with our school’s annual missions fundraisers.  Thanks, Kat.  You are an inspiration.

Brenda, I thought the same thing.  I just repeated the process.

Brenda, when you log on to Paypal, there is a place on the homepage that is labeled “Send Money”.  You can click on that and enter Kat’s e-mail address, thesecretlifeofkat AT gmail DOT com, to send the payment to, and you can specify the amount you want to send there.

Stephen,

Thanks for the tip! Exactly what I wanted to know (without going through the process x times for x dollars).

I just updated the button so that you can donate as much as you’d like.

I’ll post a total update as soon as I get my little ones to bed…

I’m pretty sure I just sent enough to at least buy the butt of a goat!  Not every day one can say that!

Hi Kat,

Just wanted to say how proud I am of you!  Thank you for helping us all lift our eyes to the bigger issues in the world.  Reading everyone’s blogs, getting more involved, actually doing something about problems that we hear and talk about…it has been life-changing for me, and I’m sure, other’s as well.  The goat idea is GREAT!  Love it…love you…love God…love all around!
