Getting to Know You…

There have been quite a few more people reading this blog over the past few weeks so I thought it mighe be a good time for an interactive get to know you blog post.  I hope a lot of you who normally don’t comment will come out of the woodwork and say hello. And one lucky commenter will win…..

….a hearty thanks. (Sorry, I’m cheap. I just spent all my money on a minivan.)

Here we go:

1. How many brothers and sisters do you have? Are they older or younger?

I have one older brother.

2. If you could visit any place in the world, where would you go and why?

The Philippines because my family is there and I have never met them. I did meet my aunt and cousins for the first time in April, but I’d love to go with them sometime to meet the rest of my family.

3. If someone made a movie of your life, what genre would it be and who would play you?

Romantic comedy with some action (just because I think that would be fun) and since there aren’t many filipino actresses, I’ll go with Meg Ryan. She doesn’t look anything like me, but for some reason I relate to her personality in the movies I’ve seen.

4. In honor of Fred, what is your favorite sports team?

The Chicago Cubs. It’s sad. I know. I even have a Cubs baseball card collection. I’d buy packs of baseball cards and just sort through them to see if there were any Cubs cards. (I got a Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card out of it.)

5. What was your first job?

Making food in large quantities for visiting missions groups at our church.

I look forward to hearing your answers!

1. How many brothers and sisters do you have? Are they older or younger?

One younger brother who gave me two beautiful nieces that I go pick up when I’m feeling outnumbered by all the boys in our house.  ; )

2. If you could visit any place in the world, where would you go and why?

I think I would go to Hawaii because of it’s beauty, warmth, beaches, flowers, the ocean.  A few of my favorite things.

3. If someone made a movie of your life, what genre would it be and who would play you?

Comedy, definitely. I LOVE to laugh.  Julianne Moore would play me because she’s a redhead and my hubby thinks she’s hot. Also, she’s the first redhead that came to mind.  She really doesn’t look like me though…so, maybe Nicole Kidman?  In my younger (thinner) days people told me I looked like her.

4. In honor of Fred, what is your favorite sports team?

The Colts.  (I live in Indy) I would say the Pacers because I like basketball better and when Reggie was playing, I was a fan.  I’m not a fan of the players’ behavior lately.

5. What was your first job? I was a waitress part-time at Ponderosa when I was 16.  I was a health claims processor at Allstate as my first full-time job.

1. How many brothers and sisters do you have? Are they older or younger?

One brother and one sister. I am the oldest, my brother is almost two years younger, my sister is almost seven years younger.

2. If you could visit any place in the world, where would you go and why?

Australia. I’ve always been fascinated with Australia, and think it would be a fun and exciting place to visit.

3. If someone made a movie of your life, what genre would it be and who would play you?

Okay, I hate this question. Why, you ask? For over ten years, everywhere I go, I get this “Hey, do you know who you look just like?” thing from so many people, including my wife. I don’t think I look like him, and I don’t want him to play me in a movie. (And I’m not saying his name here—I’m not spreading this information into my internet friends space). Maybe the genre could be Cheesy Inspirational Film. Or Comedy. Or Science Fiction. Hmmm.

4. In honor of Fred, what is your favorite sports team?

I feel bad about this one. You are supposed to grow up cheering for one team, and always remain faithful to them, right? Well, growing up, it was the Houston Oilers. And under ugly circumstances, they got moved to Tennessee, and if you’re from Houston, I think you’re supposed to hate them now. But since I live in Nashville, the Tennessee Titans are my team, right? And I do like them. At some level, I feel like a traitor or something.

5. What was your first job?

You don’t have enough room here for me to tell the story about my first job. I was about 11 or 12 years old I think, and my Dad gave my brother and me a summer job (that lasted all summer), painting a very long chain link fence that bordered an entire, huge apartment complex in Houston. It was… quite an adventure.

1. How many brothers and sisters do you have? Are they older or younger?

One two-years-my-younger sister.

2. If you could visit any place in the world, where would you go and why?

Maybe Japan?  Or Australia & New Zealand?  Nothing really pressing.

3. If someone made a movie of your life, what genre would it be and who would play you?

Movie of my life?  That would be a snoozer.

4. In honor of Fred, what is your favorite sports team?

Not much of a sports fan.  I guess I’ve inherited some Dallas Cowboy fan genes from my grandfather, though.

5. What was your first job?

First real job was a painful summer working on the physical plant crew at East Texas Baptist University.  Two buildings were being renovated and we cleaned out every single piece of furniture in each.  Worst piece was a 20ft oak conference table down 3 flights of stairs.  We also populated a new dorm with all new furniture and laid acres of sod in the heat.  That was the summer I decided I wanted a desk job.

Low-budget Apocalyptic thriller starring Kirk Cameron.

1. How many brothers and sisters do you have? One sister, one brother-in-law, and one very cute nephew.

2. If you could visit any place in the world, where would you go and why?

Australia and New Zealand – because of the rugged beauty.

3. If someone made a movie of your life, what genre would it be and who would play you?

It would be action with a little romance, because I love action movies, but there always has to be romance!  Drew Barrymore would play me I think.

Boston Red Sox!!  I’m hooked on them.

5. What was your first job?

I worked at The General Store in Harvard, MA.  No, I’m not 100 years old!  Harvard is just that kind of town…

Great idea Kat! It’s been interesting to read all the responses.

1. How many brothers and sisters do you have? Are they older or younger?

One brother and one sister and both are older.

2. If you could visit any place in the world, where would you go and why?

Italy is my dream place.  Or I would go back to France and travel more extensively.

3. If someone made a movie of your life, what genre would it be and who would play you?  At this point, no one would make a movie of my life.  Not enough interesting material. grin But it would be drama and Claire Danes would play me.

4. In honor of Fred, what is your favorite sports team? The St. Louis Cardinals.

5. What was your first job?

Not counting baby-sitting?  I worked for 2 and half years at Factory Card Outlet…NOT a factory, but a party supply store.
